Bio

Erica Calhoun joined Washington Adventist University as the Sports Information Director and Compliance Coordinator in August 2021, and was named the 2023-2024 Continental Athletics Conference Sports Information Director of the Year, the first in school history.

Erica's passion for graphic design developed fashioning marketing projects for her parents at an early age. Born and raised in Gary, IN, Erica was a triple sport athlete, competing in volleyball, basketball, and track & field.

In 2005, Erica led Gary West Side High School to the Indiana High School Athletic Association 4A State Championship, becoming the first girl's team in Gary, IN, to make it to the State Championship. Erica finished her HS basketball career with a career-high 31 points, several MVP honors, a Mcdonald's All-American nominee, and an Indiana High School All-American finalist.

In 2006, Erica led her track & field 4x1 and 4x4 relay teams to the IHSAA State Championship. She finished her track & field high school career with an 11.7-second PR in the 100m dash and a 56-second PR in the 400m dash.

Erica earned a Division I NCAA Athletic Scholarship at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Women's Basketball Team. She made the starting nod in her second collegiate game facing Ole Miss and had a season-high 10 points. Erica helped lead her team to the second round of the WNIT in 2007 and the Conference USA Championship game in 2010. Erica also earned the awards for Best Conditioned Athlete and Highest GPA in 2007 and Unsung Hero in 2010.

Upon graduation, Erica relocated to Washington, DC, and went on to pursue a professional modeling career, gracing the runways of New York Fashion Week, LA Fashion Week, Baltimore Fashion Week, and Maryland Fashion Week while also modeling for companies such as Jimmy Jazz and Ashley Stewart to name a few.

After her modeling career, Erica recommitted to her passion for athletics, photography, and graphic design, becoming the Director of Media and Communications and Assistant Basketball Coach for Bishop McNamara High School's nationally-ranked Women's Basketball Program in 2015. Her talents have garnered a national following due to her strategic marketing solutions. She oversees the creative direction for all photo shoots, marketing campaigns, social media management, and graphic designs. Erica's work has been featured recently on ESPN, The Washington Post, USA Today, SLAM, the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), and ESPNW websites. Erica helped the team win the 2020 WCAC Championship and the school's first Geico Nationals in program history. In addition, Erica coached the school's first two McDonald's and Jordan Brand All-Americans and WCAC and All-Met Player of the Year.

Her success led her to launch EC Marketing and Media, where she brands, creates content, and markets multiple accounts among educational institutions such as WAU Athletics, Bishop McNamara High School, Bishop McNamara Athletics, Gilman Athletics, Coppin Women's Basketball, and the Gary International Black Film Festival, Georgetown University Football Program, Clark Atlanta Football Program, and Parkdale High School Women's Basketball Program to name a few. Erica was also the official portrait photographer for the 2024 Track and Field Team USA Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Erica's career as a leading and innovative graphic designer and digital photographer led her to form CampusVision Productions. This production company focuses on advancing educational institutions by telling their stories by producing high-quality digital graphics and images. She is the Chief Executive for Photography and Marketing Operations at CampusVision Productions

Erica resides in Bowie, MD, with her husband, Gregory Calhoun, and three children, Gianna Calhoun (8), Gregory Calhoun II (5), and Zoe Calhoun (3).
